Mobile Apps with CEM for Teaching and Learning of Electromagnetics

A link to video demos and descriptions for the mobile apps developed by Eng Leong Tan, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Incorporated with computational electromagnetics (CEM), the mobile apps are useful for quick initial design, analysis, simulations and animations, as well as for enhanced teaching and learning of electromagnetics and RF/microwave courses.

These mobile apps are useful for quick initial design, analysis, simulations and animations, as well as for enhanced teaching and learning of electromagnetics (EM) and RF/microwave courses on the following topics: (1) EM polarization (linear/circular/elliptical), polarization ellipse, axial ratio, Poincare sphere, Stokes parameters; (2) plane wave reflection and transmission, boundary conditions, Snell's law, Brewster phenomenon, total internal reflection; (3) transmission lines, traveling waves, standing waves, characteristic impedance, propagation constant, impedance, reflection coefficient, standing wave ratio; (4) microstrip line synthesis, microstrip line analysis, inductance, capacitance, open-circuited stub, short-circuited stub, impedance matching, single stub matching network, quarter-wavelength transformer, Smith Chart, S parameters, transients; (5) coupled transmission lines, directional coupler, branch-line coupler, resonance, coupling, isolation, parallel coupled-line filter; (6) computational electromagnetics, stability condition, FDTD methods, unconditionally stable FDTD methods, ADI-FDTD, LOD-FDTD, fundamental implicit FDTD
